Re: Grub hangs after moving Point Linux to SATA disk.

as I can see you have all at one hard disc. try point livecd and the following command sudo fdisk -l in terminal to see what really you have at your disk (I do not know that tools you've mentioned). Thanks, but not necessary. I took your advice ("Re-install Grub manually from Live CD") an...

Re: Grub hangs after moving Point Linux to SATA disk.

When I try to boot Point Linux, I just get the following on my screen: GRUB _ No list of operating systems to boot from, no further video activity, no hard disk activity, and no response to keyboard or mouse. Try to install grub manually (U can find manuals in the net) with livecd. Ok, I'll look in...

Grub hangs after moving Point Linux to SATA disk.

A few days ago I move my Point Linux installation (actually, 3 operating systems: Point Linux, MS-DOS, and Windows-XP-Home) from a 120GB PATA (IDE) hard disk to a 500GB SATA hard disk. Feasible to move "/" to separate HD?

Greetings, forum. I have a 10yo Dell desktop PC which triple-boots Point Linux, MS-DOS, and Windows-XP. The main hard disk is partitioned like so: Partition 1 (primary): Point Linux "/boot" only. (100MB) Partition 2 (primary): MS-DOS 6.22 (500MB) Partition 3 (primary): MS-Windows-XP-Home (...

Re: All panels are missing on one account.

I'm sick of fighting with this, so seeing as how no one on Point Linux Forums has any ideas as to why the mate panels on an account would disappear every time the user logs out and back in, I'm about to consider this account as "irrevocably hosed", delete it, and start over. My plan of act...

Re: All panels are missing on one account.

Updates: 1. The problem definitely occurs at log-off / log-on, not at startup. If I have the panels running, log out, log right back in, they're gone again. So it's something in the log-on script for this one account. 2. The problem is not related to vertical panels or auto-hide. I erased the vertic...

Re: All panels are missing on one account.

Update: After restarting again, panels were missing again. Again I navigated with caja to /usr/share/applications and double-clicked "panel". Again the panels were restored. Restarted AGAIN, panels were missing AGAIN. Again I navigated with caja to /usr/share/applications and double-clicke...

Re: All panels are missing on one account.

... for future use - more technical details, less emotions.... It is unwise to infer emotional status from circumstantial evidence. Different personality types (eg, INTJ vs ENFP vs ESTJ) will have very different correlations between *apparent* emotion and *actual* emotion. Also, emotion is a side e...
