you rather have problems with repositories. can you list sources.list file

and all files (if any) in /etc/apt/sources.list.d directory?
moreover check if you set update frequency (you can double click sources.list file or use synaptic, update tab).

firstly try to upgrade your system (use either synaptic or apt-get command as stated in my previous post). check installed packages with dpkg command. if you missed something, try to install manually with apt-get (sudo apt-get install <package name>). if you have dependency problems you can use sudo...

it's known problem. change cdn into standard Debian repositories, namely http://ftp.debian.org instead http://cdn.debian.net. you can either directly edit (as a root) /etc/apt/sources.list or use synaptic (settings - repositories). at the moment there is about 200MB of upgrades.
