probable there is mistake in syntax of mount command. also directory (where to mount) should be added ( here is short tutorial ). if you try sudo fdisk -l (as you did) or sudo blkid -o list you can see all partitions of the system (mounted or not). what is the output? hdd should be mounted automatic...

hi, since you do not give too much details on your os (components and configuration might be important) pls read this forum answer in hope it helps. it seems to be the kernel issue (let say, pointlinux incoherent) so you ought to look for debian hdmi problems.
