Point Linux 3 changing desktop icons

I have just installed PL3 on my machine and can find no configuration-editor, desktop-settings or even mate-tweak

Is there a way to change my desktop icons on Point Linux 3?

Hello, Rob!

Have you installed MATE or XFce?

Okay, you don't need any configuration editor or something to add new icon theme in MATE.

1. Create the hidden folder called '.icons' in your home folder. You can use the CTRL+H shortcut to show hidden files in Caja. Pay attention to the leading dot in the '.icons' folder name.
2. Download and extract your icon theme there.
3. Right click on your desktop and choose 'Change Desktop Background'. Open the Theme tab. Clich on the 'Customize' button. Click on the 'Icons' tab. Your icon theme should appear there.
4. Enjoy! :)

P.S. You should install the 'dconf-tools' package to get access to MATE configuration. The editor itself is called 'dconf-editor'

Upon reading my post I can see you were thinking of icons as in themes.

I want to control which icons appear on my desktop. I don't like my home icon or computer icon or mounted volumes on the desktop.
I used to go to the configuration editor to achieve this. I just would like to know how to gain that control again.

Thank you so much for all of your hard work.

Thank you Pry.

The dconf-editor was exactly what I needed.

Thank you for both your hard work and patience.
