update repo problem [SOLVED]

update repo problem [SOLVED]

Postby kenbo11 » 05 Jan 2015, 03:52

I've been getting the following error when checking for update for the last few days.

Code: Select all
Error message:
Fetch failed: W:Failed to fetch http://cdn.debian.net/debian/dists/taya/contrib/binary-i386/Packages  404  Not Found
, W:Failed to fetch http://cdn.debian.net/debian/dists/taya/non-free/binary-i386/Packages  404  Not Found
, W:Failed to fetch http://cdn.debian.net/debian/dists/taya/main/binary-i386/Packages  404  Not Found
, E:Some index files failed to download. They have been ignored, or old ones used instead.

Any suggestions?

it's known problem. change cdn into standard Debian repositories, namely http://ftp.debian.org instead http://cdn.debian.net. you can either directly edit (as a root) /etc/apt/sources.list or use synaptic (settings - repositories). at the moment there is about 200MB of upgrades.

These are the debian repos. I did leave the point ones alone.

I just checked Taya doesn't exist on either the ftp or cdn So I've just unchecked them for now.

After a little more research I've changed my sources.list to this

Code: Select all
deb http://http.debian.net/debian/ wheezy main contrib non-free
deb http://security.debian.org/ wheezy/updates main contrib non-free
deb http://http.debian.net/debian/ wheezy-updates main contrib non-free
deb http://http.debian.net/debian wheezy-backports main
deb http://cdn.pointlinux.org/pointlinux/ taya main contrib non-free

This seems to work correctly.
