Point Linux mirroring

Postby Pry » 03 Jun 2013, 05:10

Point Linux is moving to the CDN system so if you like the project and you have a fast and reliable server - be first to mirror it in your country.

cron rsync command for packages:
Code: Select all
rsync -a --delete pointlinux.org::packages TARGET/pointlinux

cron rsync command for distro releases:
Code: Select all
rsync -a --delete pointlinux.org::releases TARGET/pointlinux-releases

Drop us a line at support@pointlinux.org to inform us of the new mirror in your country.

We already have the following mirrors:
Georgia Tech, GA, USA. packages | releases
Linux Freedom, CA, USA. releases
Yandex, Moscow, Russian Federation. packages | releases
University of Crete, Heraklion, Greece. packages | releases
University of Applied Sciences, Aachen, Germany. packages | releases
University of Kent, Canterbury, United Kingdom. packages | releases
IRCAM Mirror, Paris, France. packages | releases
GARR Mirror, Milan, Italy. packages | releases

I'm proud to announce that Yandex, the largest search engine in Russia, is now mirroring Point Linux repo and releases! This means Europeans (especially Russians) will be able to download Point Linux images and packages at 1 gbps!

I've just discovered that the entire Point Linux mirror in Kiev, Ukraine was silently removed from their site. Saying 'silently' I mean that the linux.kiev.ua site hosters haven't informed me of the upcoming removal in any form. I have no other choice but to remove the dead linux.kiev.ua links from the geoip based packages/releases mirror lists. Ukrainian Point Linux users will now be getting distro specific updates via the Yandex mirror.
