"MATE 1.6 migration simplified"

Is there an official or recommended upgrade path/procedure from 1.4 to 1.6?

Thanks.

Jordan,
while I still do not recommend migration to MATE 1.6, it should now go smooth (except for Compiz) when you add the mate repo and make dist-upgrade.

Again, I recommend staying on MATE 1.4.2. You we warned. :)

As I have no problems with MATE 1.4.2, I see no compelling reason to upgrade. So I will stay with 1.4 per your advice. Thanks Peter :) .

I recently discovered Point Linux on Distrowatch.com. I'm very impressed. It performs exceptionally well on my aged Dell D430 laptop. Excellent work!

FYI: I used the MATE 1.6 Debian repo and installed MATE 1.6 perfectly on my system. My only issue is getting compiz to work, but that was to be expected.
