CUPS auth trouble

CUPS auth trouble

Postby nosheep » 29 Aug 2014, 19:09

Hi,

I just installed Point Linux for the first time.
I have a correctly HP PSC 2350 printer installed but when I try to configure CUPS it will ask me the root password. But I don't know it...

To fix it I change the root password with:
Code: Select all
sudo passwd root

After this, I retry but CUPS say the password is wrong...
However when I type su on a terminal I can log on root with the new password.

For understanding my trouble, I invite you to watch a little video: http://nosheep.fr/misc/CUPS-auth-trouble.mp4

You have any ideas?

Regards

Hi,
If you have a root terminal just enter the command 'system-config-printer'. I have found it to work most of the time.

Thx for your answer RichardA.

I try what you say, but don't work.
I opened a root terminal, launch system-config-printer..
When I click on Server > Settings it show me a error message:
CUPS server error
There was an HTTP error: Not found.
