Try to install xscreensaver on Point Linux 64 bits

Postby rizhu » 01 Feb 2014, 00:40

Hello all.

I am trying to install xscreensaver on Point Linux 64 bits, but when I writing on terminal:

Code: Select all
sudo aptitude install xscreensaver
the output says

Code: Select all
Se instalarán los siguiente paquetes NUEVOS:
  xscreensaver

Cancela.

That is, I need to remove the packages pointlinux-mate-core and pointlinux-mate-deskt

But, when I reviewed the dependencies of pointlinux-mate-desktop and pointlinux-mate-core there are a lot.

Do you know if there is another way to install xscreensaver??

Thanks a lot.

Pd. I'm :sorry: by my english, but I'm a newbie on this too.

but there is screensaver in the system. look at preferences. of course the number of screens is very limited but as a matter of fact - not needed.
going back to your question, I'm afraid there is no way. it's seems to be very serious dependency problem with mate,

here http://packages.debian.org/en/wheezy/xscreensaver you can find details on the application. and it needs some gnome libraries. probable it causes problems.

cheers,
